Mingjiada Supply ADI Hot Swap Controllers, Supply LT4363 Series High Voltage Surge Stopper
Shenzhen Mingjiada Electronics Co., Ltd. — Long-term supplier of the [ADI] hot-swap controller LT4363 – a high-voltage surge suppressor IC. The LT4363 is primarily positioned as a ‘high-voltage surge suppressor (Surge Stopper) with adjustable current limiting’ and is commonly used in engineering applications for hot-swap surge suppression and input overvoltage/overcurrent protection; it is not a traditional hot-swap controller with a digital interface.
The LT4363 surge suppressor protects the load from damage caused by high-voltage transients. It regulates the output during overvoltage events (such as load dump conditions in automotive applications) by controlling the gate of an external N-channel MOSFET. The output is limited to a safe level, thereby allowing the load to continue operating.
The LT4363 also monitors the voltage drop across the SNS and OUT pins to prevent damage from overcurrent faults. An internal amplifier is used to limit the voltage across the current-sensing resistor to 50 mV. Under either fault condition, the timer start-up is inversely proportional to the stress on the MOSFET.
Before the timer terminates operation, the FLT pin is pulled low to issue a ‘power-off imminent’ warning. If this condition persists, the MOSFET will switch off. Prior to reset, the LT4363-1 remains off, whilst the LT4363-2 restarts after a cooling cycle.

The LT4363 series of high-voltage surge suppressors is suitable for surge protection in automotive and avionics applications, Hot Swap™ and live insertion, as well as high-side switching in battery-powered systems.
The protection provided by the LT4363 is not switch-mode chopping, but rather linear regulation:
Normal conduction: When GATE is above the MOSFET threshold, the MOSFET conducts with low resistance; system efficiency depends on RDS(on) and RSNS.
Overcurrent limiting: Once the voltage across RSNS reaches the threshold, the current loop regulates GATE to maintain the current near the set value.
Overvoltage clamping: Once FB exceeds the reference, the voltage loop adjusts GATE to prevent the output from rising further in response to input surges.
Timed shutdown: The TIMER capacitor charges during linear regulation; if a fault persists beyond the set time, GATE is pulled low, the MOSFET is switched off, and FLT is set.
Hot-swap surge suppression: A soft-start/current-limiting effect is achieved via the GATE drive and the MOSFET’s gate capacitance, limiting the input inrush current during plug-in; the precise power-up slope must be evaluated in accordance with the data sheet and the external gate capacitance.
